Nobody starts a home-services company because they love spreadsheets.
You started it because you’re good at the work — and because you’d rather run the job than work for someone who runs it badly.
But the further a shop grows, the more decisions get made on feel. Which service lines to push. Whether that ad spend is working. What a callback actually costs you. Most owners have a gut answer to all three — and the gut is right often enough that nobody checks. The times it’s wrong are expensive, and they’re usually invisible.
That’s the job. I sit with your numbers until I find the thing nobody’s looking at, and then I tell you about it in plain English.
Who I am
I’m Josh. I started out in the military in aviation operations, turning wrenches on helicopters. Since then I’ve managed inventory, quoted and run physical security installations, led a team of inventory integrity analysts, fixed manufacturing workflows, and spent the last stretch of my career in business intelligence.
It’s not a straight line, and I’ve stopped apologizing for that. What it means in practice is that I’ve been the guy on the floor and the guy in the reporting meeting. I can talk to your techs about why a job ran long without treating them like a data-entry problem, and I can talk to you about margin without hiding behind a chart.
I keep running into the same thing: businesses sitting on a goldmine of data they can’t use. The problem is almost never access. It’s that the information is scattered — your field software knows the jobs, QuickBooks knows the money, your ad accounts know the spend, and none of them talk to each other. Nobody has the time to sit down and make them line up.
I do. That’s what you’d be hiring me for.
What you should expect.
You’re the expert on your trade
I’m not going to tell you how to size a system or price an install. You’ve been doing this longer than I have, and I’d be a fool to pretend otherwise.
There’s no software to buy
I’m not selling you a platform, a subscription, or a dashboard you’ll stop opening after three weeks. I work with the systems you already have.
You’ll get a straight answer
If I dig into your numbers and find nothing worth acting on, I’ll tell you that too. I’d rather lose the work than sell you a problem you don’t have.
Your data stays yours
Anything you share with me is covered in writing before we start, and it never leaves my hands.
