One view of the business
Most companies keep customers in the CRM, revenue in accounting, people in HR, and hours in a time tracker, and none of them agree on who a customer is. This report connects all four. It runs on made-up data for a fictional software company.
How it’s built
The hardest part of a report like this isn’t the charts. It’s matching customers across systems that each use their own IDs and spellings, so revenue, deals, and hours all land on the right customer. Once that’s done, questions like “which customers cost more to serve than they pay?” take seconds instead of a week of spreadsheets.
In this sample, four small customers use nearly half of all support hours and run at a fraction of the typical margin. None of the four systems could show that on its own. I build the same report in Power BI too, and I’m happy to walk through either one.
